Social Security Administration Office – Chicago, IL

The concept for the LEED-Silver design was to use locally resourced material in a easily constructible fashion while maintaining a high design concept of a modern office facility that would be welcoming to the clients as well as the bench mark for redevelopment of the neighborhood.   This site is located minutes from the current facility and offers easy on/off accessibility to the public transportation dependent clients.  This building concept / design will stand-out as the premier facility in the immediate area and has no comparable context to neighboring facilities.   This building design proposes a steel frame super system and a 30’-0” square grid with non-loading bearing walls.  The steel frame and the exterior walls shall be set and a poured in place reinforced concrete foundation system.  The exterior walls shall be a single masonry width wall system with steel stud back-up wall with a superior interior insulation system.  This will provide a superior thermal performance.  This building is approximately 18,200 Sq. Ft. at an estimated cost of 4.2 million dollars.
